RankTop is a keyword rank checker made of a website and a Chrome extension. This page explains what data they handle. We do not sell your data and we do not show ads.

What we collect

• Account: your name, email address and a password that is stored only as a salted hash.
• What you add: your websites (domains), the keywords you track, your competitors’ domains and the country and language of each website.
• Rank results: for each check, the position of your domain and your competitors’ domains, and the address of the page that ranks, taken from the Google results the extension reads.
• Connection token: the key that lets your extension talk to RankTop. Only a one-way hash of it is stored.
• Technical data: your IP address and request logs, used to keep the service secure and to limit abuse.

What the Chrome extension does

• When you click Check now (or if you turned on the daily check), it opens Google search pages in a background tab for the keywords you track, and reads the list of result links from those pages.
• It sends RankTop the keyword it checked and the list of result addresses it found (up to the first 30 results), so RankTop can work out your position.
• It keeps your connection token and the latest results in the extension’s own storage in your browser.
• It does not read your browsing history, your other tabs, your passwords or the content of other websites, and it does not run code downloaded from the internet.

How we use data

Only to provide RankTop: showing your rankings, history, comparisons and reports, keeping your account secure, handling plan orders and answering your questions.

Who sees it

Only you and the people you invite to your workspace can see your websites and rankings. We do not sell or rent data. Our hosting provider and Cloudflare (which delivers the website) process data on our behalf to run the service. We may disclose data if the law requires it.

Keeping and deleting data

You can delete a website or a keyword at any time in RankTop, which removes its ranking history. Your data is kept while your account exists. To delete your whole account and everything in it, contact us and we will do it. Payment orders may be kept longer where accounting rules require.

Security

The website and the extension talk over HTTPS. Passwords and connection tokens are stored only as hashes. Locking an account or creating a new token cuts off the old access straight away.

Limited use

The data the extension collects is used only for the rank-checking features described here. It is not transferred to others except as described above, it is not used for advertising, and it is not used to judge creditworthiness or for lending.
